Jamie (she/they) was born in Santa Rosa, California, and grew up on her family vineyard in Calistoga. As a child, she explored the Napa Valley hillsides, reading, writing poetry, and drinking too much espresso. Jamie completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Neuroscience & Behavior and her Masters of Science degree in Nutrition at Columbia University. Afterward, she traveled north to receive her Medical Degree from the University of Buffalo. Tired of the cold and snow, she left New York to complete her residency training in Psychiatry at the Hawaii Residency Programs. In her final year, she served as chief resident, and after graduation, began her career at the Veteran's Administration. During her residency, she became a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, and mobilized twice to the Middle East. Jamie has a passion for serving minority communities, specifically gender and sexual minorities, which she supports through research, education, and clinical care.
